The Bob Pedler Memorial Fund financially aids Hamilton musicians who are unable to perform due to injury or ongoing health issues. The fund is named for the late Bob Pedler, a popular musician and music store owner in the city and a former member of the executive board of the Hamilton Musicians’ Guild. Bob is also the father of the well-known Hamilton-based drummer, the late Jack Pedler (Teenage Head). Applications are considered in tandem with AFM Petrillo grants.
HMG members who are active, gigging musicians are encouraged to contact the office if they believe they might qualify for a Bob Pedler Memorial grant. If approved, members will receive only one benefit check in any calendar year. However, applications for assistance may be submitted in subsequent years if needed.
Aside from raising money for the Bob Pedler Fund, the annual Bob Pedler Memorial Fundraiser is also an opportunity for the Hamilton Musicians’ Guild to present the George R. Robinson Award to deserving recipients. The Robinson Award, named for the Guild’s founder, is our chance to honour local men and women who have distinguished themselves by their exemplary support of live music and musicians in the Hamilton area.
